Who We Are

Hormone Helper is a product of Ravenwood Tech and the brainchild of partners John and Abe, and their close friend Dylan.

John Patterson

Director of Development and Design

John Patterson, the creative force behind Hormone Helper, serves as the Director of Development and design. A film studies graduate from Willamette University (oldest liberal arts college in the west), John brings over a decade of multimedia expertise to app development. His experience spans graphic design across multiple industries and work with adults with disabilities, informing his user-centric approach.

While storytelling through film is his first love, John's passion for robotics and design finds perfect expression in Hormone Helper. He combines narrative power, technical precision, and empathy to create an intuitive, accessible app. John's interdisciplinary background—merging film, technology, and human experience—drives Hormone Helper's evolution from a mere tool to a true companion in users' transition journeys.

As project manager, John orchestrates the app's development, ensuring each feature aligns with the team's mission to empower the transgender community. His innovative approach stands as a testament to the impact of interdisciplinary thinking in creating user-focused solutions.

Abe Glennon

Director of Research and Communications

Abe Glennon serves as the Director of Research and Communications at Hormone Helper, bringing a diverse skill set to this multifaceted role. A recent graduate of Portland State University, Abe earned an impressive triple major in Psychology, Social Science, and Liberal Studies in 2024, providing him with a robust foundation in human behavior and societal dynamics. His professional background spans both the insurance industry, where he honed his customer relations skills, and the food service sector, equipping him with valuable experience in fast-paced, people-oriented environments.

At Hormone Helper, Abe leverages his academic knowledge and professional experience to foster meaningful connections with users, secure vital funding, and expand the app's reach within the community. His unique blend of empathy, analytical thinking, and communication prowess enables him to effectively bridge the gap between user needs, financial considerations, and outreach initiatives.

Dylan Steele

Director of Learning and Development

Dylan Steele, the inspiration behind Hormone Helper, serves as the Director of Learning and Development. A transgender woman and Oregon native, Dylan brings a deep, personal understanding of the trans community to her role. With over 7 years of retail customer service experience and 3 years as a manager at IKEA, she has honed her skills in training, advising, and assisting both customers and employees.

Dylan's background in retail management, combined with her lived experience as a trans woman, uniquely positions her to identify and address the needs of Hormone Helper's users. As a lifelong learner and professional model, she brings both intellectual curiosity and a keen eye for detail to the app's development process.

In her role, Dylan spearheads learning programs that ensure Hormone Helper remains a reliable, safe, and comprehensive tool for the trans community. Her commitment to continuous improvement and research-centric approach to training makes her an invaluable asset in Hormone Helper's mission to support individuals throughout their transition journey.
